Juliette has a gun's iconic "Not a Collection" is something very special: completely free of sulphates, parabens, artificial colourings, phthalates and, in fact, everything else ... But one ingredient X - what does it stand for?

CETALOX

"Learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist", Romano Ricci quotes a stranger. He takes this impressive quote as a model for his perfume creations and breaks the rules of perfume art with his "Not a Collection". Instead of a multi-layered structure in top, heart and base notes, he places one ingredient alone in all positions. But more about this secret ingredient:

Cetalox is also known by its more common name Ambrox or Ambroxan, a synthetic substitute for ambergris. With its naturally woody, airy scent that is somewhat reminiscent of musk and amber, ambroxan is often used as a base note in perfumes because the fragrance is especially long-lasting, soft and subtle. Most of the time, it serves as a chemical stimulant that emphasises, highlights and allows the other ingredients to develop. But what is Cetalox supposed to emphasise when there is no other ingredient?

"Not a Perfume" as well as the more intense variant "Not a perfume Superdose", the "Not a hand cream" or the "Not a hair and body mist" are highly intimate and personal products for anyone who uses them. The main note is formed from the body odour of the person wearing the perfume. Romanco Ricci's molecular fragrance makes us the main character of the perfume that carries our very personal scent out into the world.

Cetalox is crystallised in its pure form and requires a solvent to become liquid. Ethanol is the solution. This combination can often be found in laundry detergents, due to its clean and pure smell. Absolutely clean is not only the scent of "Not a perfume". The composition of only one ingredient makes the formulation hypoallergenic and even tolerable for people who otherwise have problems with perfumes. The simplicity of the fragrance is what makes it so special and complex.

Romano Ricci came up with the idea to create "Not a perfume" in 2010 and mixed all his favourite bases together for it, leaving them with top, heart and base notes. The fragrance should be minimalist, elegant and pure. Because of its synthetic nature, Cetalox lasts much longer than natural ambergris, and the reciprocity of a multi-layered perfume is not lost with the different facets of the active ingredient.
